Sorry guys i know this is getting stupid and my time keeping is awful i know. no excuse.
we are in oz now, but will keep you updated where we are in new Zealand. so we got to queenstown and had our first night out. the next day was our bungy jump, The Nevis, -oh dear. i was fine in the morning but as the day continued i got more nervous as the realisation of what i would be doing kicked in. i decided like the good daughter i am to text my mum, early morning back in the UK so by the time she got it, i would have done it. the thing is- when it came down to it- I COULDN'T DO IT! got right to the edge, with the cord straped to my legs, but coulnd't jump, the fear took over and stopped me. felt so dissapointed, had another chance to do, but still could not buck up the courage. Still there was a plus that came out of it- i bought some ugg boots. and i had a nice bar just under the hostel to go and drown my sorrows. -successful task!
The next day we had booked in for the canyon swing, i really hoped i could do this one. so we made our way down to the swing getting more nervous each turn in the van. once we got there we all got strapped into our harnesses, and one by one the girls before plunged themselves of the ledge. Once it was my turn, i made the decision to do the cut away. this meant the guys would release me. I DID IT! felt so good when i came back up, was buzzing. was thinking about doing another one, but when i saw it performed i knew i should stop at the first one.
Queenstown was a very relaxed place and because we had booked to stay the whole week we were very relaxed about our outings. We tried luging on the monday which was great fun. felt like a racer, charging down the hills in a toboggan. Again the night involved drinking at the usual haunts. World Bar and altitude, also had the guys come in from the other buses, so was very busy night. wasn't the best though, so we left and had a FERGBURGER, has to be in bold as so good and a queeny Must! Our next outing was the shotover jet on the tuesday, the driver was a complete maniac and went so near the rocks i didn't think we'd see the afternoon. still we arrived back safely to queeny and ready for another of.... staying in, see you guys thought i was going to say altitude. nope we opted out of the evening and stayed in to watch movies, as we being quite lucky with rooms had aquired a tv and tea making facilities, so we thought we would make the most of them.
The Next day was the return of our other two roommates (Biff and Chip). we all decided to do something exciting and go and play mini golf- sad you may say, but it was so much fun. the course was very exciting and at the end for all the hard work you get a free lolly, now for backpackers and bargain people alike, that is always a bonus. Well Thursday was our last night in the town and we had to go out, but during the day we had got our hair done,-not been done since left in march and my hair was crying out for hairdresser hands and a little imagination. The night turned out to awesome, a real laugh, was sad to say goodbye as this really was the last place we would all be together, still theres always Facebook.
We left for christchurch the next morning and what a nightmare journey that turned out to be, not only were we all a little short tempered from our early morning wake up, and a little fragile from the previous night antics but we had a driver who couldn't speak one sentence properly, and persistantly annoyed the entire bus. We had a quiet one that evening and only ventured out the hostel for a bite to eat- a nice bit of lamb, our first in New Zealand. Yes mum i tried lamb, and it was actually quite nice. then we tried to find the cinema for a chilled film.. We found the next day that christchurch really does not offer much. They have lovely gardens but the city is quite a quiet place. Think also felt quite deflated as wa the end of our tour-officially and the end of New Zealand. Had the best time and will def be back to visit again.
