So I arrived on Magnetic Island only after a 6 hour bus ride from Cairns.. Actually wasnt too bad...but as I arrived the skies opened up and it was like back to England all over again! The next 2 days rained too but was a little over cast and with some sun shine peeking through...
Firstly I arrived and had to get the bus to Bungalow Bay where the Koala village and santuary is.. I was led to beleive that is I stayed here then I would get to see the koala and crocs and get a picture but actually they charge a lot of money so I decided to go for a nice walk in the rain instead to see if I could spot a koala in the wild.. guess what?!? I did.. see pic of post.. cool isnt he?? first he had his back to me and stretched his legs out so I called him..."oi koala boy" he slowly turned around and posed for a pic... cute little thing... he had a big nose through... lol
The forts walk is the site from WW2 I walked up and took a look around the gun placements, ammo room and lots more neat things.. like some cools rocks and lovely views (although cloudy) was actually very nice.. then had to rush down as I freaked myself out thinking it would get dark and I might get eaten by a koala or snack lol
Got back to Bungalow bay and started chatting to my lovely room mate called Sophie from Rotterdam, she invited me for drinks with Aoife from Dublin.. we had a lovely evening sitting in the bar. BUT BUT BUT then the barmaid rudely mentioned that bar shuts at pm prompt and eventually asked us for our glasses (still with drinks in) in exchange for plastic... I was like WTF?!? were on holiday and we cant even stay up past 10?! joke...
so day 2 at Bungalow bay went for a scroll down the beach with the girls..then got my snorkle hire (as this was included in my Bungalow bay package) even though weather wasnt great.. I walked over the Radical Bay.. was steep hilly and far (about 4-5k I reckon) got there and was 2 English girls snorkling, they said wasnt much to see because water was cloudy ... boo so decided to walk back a shorter way with them (shorter yes it was but OMG it was well hilly, I nearly died) anyways just as I got back the clouds opened up.. I got drenched...great!
Went back to room had a nice shower and cleaned myself up and then met the girls in the bar for Bingo, was packed! We met some lovely dutch guys called Joey and Jamie. I also met Chloe and Colm from Maidstone, Kent. Turns out Chloe and Colm are doing the same few trips as me in the next 2 weeks so will see a bit of them.. pretty cool.. same sailing trip, same farm experience...I won at the bingo but another guy called bingo too so we were forced to do a forfeit, anyone who knows me well knows I am a slow eater... guess what?? it was a eating challenge.. I had to eat a bowl on whole bran stuff and swallow and then whistle.. It turned to cardboard in my mouth and I could swallow eat.. I LOST...he won a bottle of champagne.. bothered I dont even like champers much... booooo was fun.. then bingo finished and the dutch and Colm played f*** the dealer... best game ever.. everyone gets drunk! but of course bar shut at 10 so we were out of alcohol... boooo so we headed to beach to walk the skys and have a laugh... good night..Dutch Jamie told us some riddles which I will share with you when I get back if your interested...
Day 3 on Magnetic Island, collected my Wallaby Rock food (also included in my package) and checked out of hostel. Tonight I am going to party hard at Base down on the beach front at Nelly Bay.. so went to base checked in then headed to feed the Rock Wallaby at Alma Bay.. Rock Wallaby are tiny little Kangeroo that live in around the rocks and have smaller feet to help them with climbing rocks.. well first thing is first VERMIN!!! I put some food down and one nearly ate my leg.. he was backing me into a corner until I gave him the food.. scary..anyways after they dramtic experience ;) I took a scroll along the water and found a nice lonely rock at the edge of the bay.. sat down and chilled for a good hour.. noticed a shipwrecked boat poking out the water, saw some fish down there too. Everything is so pretty. As I got up, bumped in Chloe and Colm again.. we went to the pub had a beer then caught the bus back to Base..
At Base walking back to room, guess who I see?! Ian and Chris from Cairns... we chatted for a while and mentioned I would play bingo in the evening.. they said they wanted to join so we met up later for bingo... basically it got messy... Bingo called had a bingo b**** (a guy from NZ) every time called or someone in audience messed up Bingo b**** had to down a bottle of Champers until we stopped singing "down down down down, down down down down down, down down" etc at the end he was puking into a bin on stage... was hilarious..anyways cheap drinks and some free shots (thanks for Ian and Chris) anyways decided to get the bus to picnic bay after Base finished serving at 12.. BIG MISTAKE!! I was already drunk as a skunk.. got there and realised everyone was hooking up and so I went and sat on beach and listened to the waves.. (and tried to sober up to fit some more booze in) didnt work, so I waited on the bench for the first bus to arrive to head back to Base.. I was in bed at 3am.. Couldnt even get undressed so slept in my shorts.. of course I found my eye patch and ear plugs though.. lucky really got Harriet bought Chris home lol
Anyways this morning wasd a shocker as I was feeling a little tender..rushed out of room and forgot my towels.. thought I was a little lighter... nevermind..
So just arrived in Airlie Beach, going on SV Whitehaven 3 days and 2 nights sailing boat around Whitsundays on Friday (Chloe and Colm will be on it too) - plus its also my birthday hint hint nudge nudge.. get a free cake thrown in.. On the way here I see some Kangeroo by the side of the road, drinking from river.. was nice to see them..
Just chilling with a beer now.. wont be able to write for a few days (Alex!!) as gonna be on a boat..
Hope everything is going well in the UK, Missing you all and feeling a little lonely today but am fine really.. maybe its the hangover.. lol
Over and out.. Keep me informed of goss or anything else interesting I should know.. Thanks
