Well from the last blog we haven't been upto that much just chilling really. First stop on the way to Mission beach was a Croc farm which was great fun, we got to hold a baby croc and snakes. Saw the crocs get fed and tried to feed a kangaroo but it wasn't hungry. I (vicky) got scared as there were Emu's just walking around which was kind of my worst nightmare! There was a crazy man who owned the farm and he made Sarah and Rich (a guy we shared a dorm with later) ge on the table and she had to retrieve the "snake" from his pants...it was all innocent as it was an actual snake!!!! Was so glad he picked here and not me hehe. From there we arrived at Scotty's beachhouse in Mission Beach which was a really cool place and had a great pool. Had a couple of days here to chill out after our hectic time....but guess what the weather was crappy and it rained so we felt like we wasted our time a bit. Met a few cool people and found out we would met up again along the way down the coast. At the hostel there was free cheese and biscuits but most importantly wine that we took full advantage of each night. Here we also had our first experience of drinking Goon (cheap wine in a box), need i say more..we had to add lemonade so should have gone for a slightly more expensive one as we didn't save any money really...you live and learn. The sun finally came out on the last day which was good for us.
Next stop was Townsville to get the ferry to MAgnetic Island. This was beautiful and had great beaches. We had a dorm that you practically needed a bus to get to as it was such a long walk from the bar...was good though as it was quiet. We did an awesome horse ride on Horseshoe bay and rode bareback in the sea with them which was amazing...although we were walking like John Wayne for a couple of days after.
Met Lydia from Southend (how random just down the road), and hired a topless car between us to drive the roughly 18km of road that we could. It was such a laugh tho and we had a Picnic on Picnic bay..we thought that was cute!!! We then left for Airlie Beach and were on the same bus as friend we met in Mission which was cool. Went out that night with Lydia and NAtasha to see what nightlife was like here, pretty good but didn't have a mad one as couldn't figure what to drink as everything apart from Bar and cheap nasty nasty wine is so expensive.
One of the best things we have done yet was a 3 day 2 night sailing adventure around the Whitsundays. We were on a catamaran boat with 26 of us altogether. Had such a wickd time and had a great group of people on our boat, made some good friends. The beaches we saw and went to were amazing just like paradise..white sands and turquoise blue sea amazing. Sleeping on a boat was pretty cool too the rocking kind of sends you yo sleep! The Deck hand looked like the ozzie guy from the film cocktail which made us chuckle. Did some amazing snorkelling over the reef and saw turtles and loads and loads of fish..the coral is amazing too and our pics with the underwater camera cam out pretty good. We only had one dolphin swim near our boat tho which was cool but wanted to see more. Whitehaven beach was the best sand i have ever seen and walked on..it sqweeked when you walked on it.
We arranged to meet for some cocktails after having a shower when we got back. Now this was the best shower ever as we were only allowed 30 seconds to rinse on the boat. I stepped foot on it and didn't brush my hair once as it was so tangled. The cocktails were good and then met the rest of the gang for drinks at the bar. This is where we discovered the cheapness and it tasted good of Snakebite over here, it actualy tastes alot better than at home. Had a wicked nite out especially with our new crazy friend Siobhan (she is such a great dancer but totally mad!).
Next up we are off to the Cattle station to herd goats and ride a bull so will keep you posted on that soon.
ps. still ongoing issues with photos so will hopefully have new ones up soon.
