We are now back home so I thought I'd wrap up my blogs. Our last couple of days in Bangkok could have been a bit of a downer. They were the final leg of a 4 month journey of a lifetime.

Jill and I decided not to get down but to finish on a high. We had one full day and decided to head for Khoa San road. This is a bar area with shops. The plan was to do some shopping and intersperse that with eating and cocktails.

Trouble with alcohol is it makes you do things you wouldnt normally do. It also makes you buy things you wouldnt normally buy. I am now the proud owner of some outrageous trousers and a tie dye top.

In between shops we decided to have a 'fish massage'. Basically you sit on a bench, put your feet in an aquarium and let dozens of little fish eat the dead skin on your feet. I have ticklish feet and this was a mix of hell and not being able to stop laughing. It is surreal.

The shopping and cocktails continued most of the afternoon. Bar hopping abroad exposes you to all sorts. We had a great chat with Simon, an aussie teacher and his polish girlfriend. He had the most amazing dreadlocks and said I should get mine done. I hadn't had that much !!!

Next we moved on to one of the side roads and found a Turkish bar. We sat and chatted with the waitress who also had dreads. I was nearly persuaded. Instead we had a shish pipe and relaxed. Jill and I dont smoke but it was really nice and tasted of apple.

It was getting late and we were a bit tipsy so it was off to Burger King. Well, green curry isnt the same is it?

We sat on the kerb outside and munched before pouring into a taxi and saying 'The Hilton please'. I'm sure the driver took one look at us and thought 'yeah right'. Still he took us and got a tip. We tried to walk through the lobby with composure but I dont think we managed it.

The flight home was ok. 13 hours but we were able to sleep for a big chunk of it. Back home it's all a bit flat. 4 months of sunny weather and now it's raining. I guess we'll just have to decide where to go next.

It's been an amazing trip. We've seen evrything we hoped we would. If you are reading this thinking you would like to do it.........then do it.
