Bankruit 9/04/09 - 14/05/09
Day 1. We flew to Bangkok from Chiang Mai then at the airport we got a chartered car instead of taking the bus down to Bankruit. The man took us to Hua Hin then claimed that he wouldn't take us any further. Dad and him had an argument through the translator which I suppose is quite hard and in the end he took us to Bankruit but for an extra 1000 baht! When we arrived we checked in and found our little beachside bungalow! It was very nice we then had tea at the hotels restaurant and me and mum had a swim in the pool.
Day 2. We spent the day lying under the trees, swimming in the sea, swimming in the pool and just relaxing. It was nice to just have a quiet day and not race round looking at all the attractions. We had a lunch of bananas and tea at the restaurant again.
Day 3. Had to move out of the bungalow into hotel. Lots of people were supposed to come for the Song ran festival which is the Thai new year. Liam and Dad biked into Bankruit village but I was too lazy. Sat around on the beach reading and swimming in the lovely warm water. For tea that night we decided to go into the village which was 3km away we were about 1km down the road when a flash silver car pulled over and offered us a ride. It was a nice Thai family from Bangkok on holiday here with 2 children and a maid we all squeezed into the car. 9 people in a 5 seater very cramped! They took us to the local night market where we had a look around and then to a restaurant where the tables were on the sand of the beach for dinner. We had lots of traditional Thai food and it was quite nice I liked some of it but some was quite disgusting. The family were business owners and seemed to be very rich. Their names were Ko, Sa, Nice and Den. They didn’t give a name for the maid but she seemed very nice always smiling at me.
Day 4. Mums BIRTHDAY!!! I reminded everyone including Dad because they all forgot how terrible! The Thai family took mum and dad up to the temple on the mountain Liam and I stayed behind swimming and reading. I have a really dark tan now! When they all got back me and Liam joined them so 8 in the car and went to a cave out of Bankruit was cool and saw bats they were cute! Then we went to a waterfall which was over the Myanmar border saw locals in the river swimming and washing. Mum was sitting down by the beach when a snake jumped out of a tree landing on the sand and eating a lizard the hotel staff told us it was very poisonous. Went out for dinner to fancy place with Thai family. They ate Western food and we ate Thai food. They secretly ordered mum a birthday cake and we had some celebrations. When dark went down to beach to look for crabs but tide was to far in so found some small glow in the dark creatures called phosphorus.
Day 5. Last full day in Bankruit. Just sat round by the beach reading all day and had a few swims. It was Songkran so everyone was squirting each other with water pistols. The Thai family had a blow up dolphin and spent ages trying to get on it with out falling off. They went to the market and got tea for everyone which was nice and lots of food we definitely didn't go hungry! When dark we took the torches and looked for crabs found one big one and two small ones. Liam and Dad had a swim in the dark.
Day 6. Time to leave had a great stay! The Thai family took us to the bus stop. Long bus ride but pretty comfortable. Our taxi took us through the city where we could see the mess and army who were there because of the protests over the last few days. Nice hotel!!
