Bade a sad farewell to our luxurious hotel suite this morning to make our way to the airport for our flight to Bora Bora. I have been looking for a campsite on the island for weeks without much success. Finally managed to get through to one on the phone yesterday but they were booked. They did however kindly give me a number for another campsite called Chez Henriette which I called and reserved a tent pitch with. We are a little apprehensive as no-one has heard of it and I suspect we will be camping in Henriette’s back garden. Landed at Bora Bora and then had to catch a boat to the main island where someone from Chez Henriette was going to meet us. We got chatting to a couple from Somerset on the boat who managed to trump our trip good and proper. They are sailing the world in a catamaran and have been travelling since September 2008 (envious? not much!) We were met by the owners’ daughter at the dock in an open top long wheel base Land rover which was fab as the heat was getting to us. She very kindly stopped in the supermarket for us to pick up some food for dinner before taking us to the campsite. As suspected it is in the middle of nowhere in Henriettes’ back garden and we are the only campers which to be honest suits us just fine as it will give us a chance to practice our French and to get to know the locals. And finally it’s just started raining and is our tent waterproof NO!
