Friday it rained, it rained a lot.
We drove through the rain from Aaron and Angela's in Ohio to Sanjay and Elena's in State College Pennsylvania.
We arrived about 6pm having lost an hour crossing into the eastern time zone.
We did little but settle in and go out for dinner. I had ordered some PSU supporters gear from Oz to be sent here so it was waiting for us to ensure we look the part on Saturday.
It wasn't a late night, we'd been driving all day and they'd been working.
Saturday was still rainy and gloomy. We all slept til late and Elena made a fabulous breakfast.
The football game was due to kick off at three so we set off a couple of hours earlier so we could experience our first tail gate party.
It was way bigger than we had expected, there were acres of cars and trucks with great set ups, bbq's, tables, chairs, TVs etc. everything you could wish to have for a fabulous day out. We headed to their friends who set up an Rv city and rent them out, fully stocked to groups who want to party without doing the work. We checked out a few set ups including being invited in to see one Rv's inside set up I see how people can live in those things not to mention party in them. We were offered food and beer everywhere we went but mostly refused the food due to breakfast being such a short time ago. We worked our way closer to the stadium and joined a group of their friends and had some of their tailgate food and drinks.
Then it was time to head to the stadium. From up there we could see the full extent of those tailgating and it was beyond anything we've ever seen.
Our seats were up high at one end. The weather for the most part behaved, it wasn't warm but the rain was minimal.
We got to see the whole spectacle, the cheer squads, the band although they were static due to the weather and of course the football. Thanks to recent immersion in the code we actually knew what was going on and had a great day. It went into extra time and in the end it was a four hour spectacle with Penn State just scraping in winners at the death knell.
It was surprisingly easy to get out after the game , largely I think due to clever parking by the Joshi's.
We got home after 8pm, another huge day. Elena had prepared some excellent lasagna so we did little more than eat, chat briefly and crash out
