After a pretty good breakfast we set off. First stop the Skyline Caverns. It's an old attraction dating back to the 30's and for the most part it's much like any others we've seen. The last couple of chambers however are different, it's one of only four caverns in the world to have anthodites They're pretty cool and definitely different.
From there we headed for Skyline Drive which runs the length of the Blue Ridge Mountains through Shenandoah National Park. It's a beautiful leafy drive which was very green after recent rains.
We stopped at the big meadows which is approx half way for lunch. All we'd read said deer and black bear were thriving here. Maybe it was cos we went through in the middle of the day but the only wildlife we spotted were squirrels and a few large, super fat caterpillars that were crossing the road.
For all that it really was a very pleasant drive.
We got to Larry and Veronica's later than planned due to roadworks. We got settled and headed out for dinner at the local bar/pizza joint. Great food before heading back to the ranch for a couple of drinks by the koi pond with the rock fire for warmth.
