Alright, I know I know, it's been ages and I'm getting lazy now I'm back in the snow yada yada yada. But it's quite good here really and I get a bit distracted.
Needless to say it's been a while since the last entry on this here journal. To tell you the truth, thought I'd get shut down once I stopped travelling under STA's umbrella but they seem to be cool about me using their site. 'spose you're reading this now and may well click through to their salesy type stuff so everyone's a winner eh, perpetual reader? Did you know you can fly to Cape Town for two fifths of f*** all?
Whistler awesome. Full stop. The mountain is massive - 2 peaks linked efficiently by a shiny lift system that's operated by no-doubt incentivised smiley lifties from all around the world. Abs is now Switch Mistress, I mean she's not backward but her riding is getting there fast, and I've managed to create a never-ending cycle of aches and pains that, if I was 5 years older (yeah very funny, 5 years younger haha) I could put down to arthritis. Briliiant. The riding has been a mixture of powder and park, check us out eh, jacks of all trades... oh booger that doesn't end well does it? So far, 31 feet of snow since November 1st. That's over 10 metres. OK, more perspective required. That's about the height of a normal house, with a loft conversion.
The gaff's great - it's in Creekside which is a suburb of Whistler itself. Studio-tastic, but way plus grande than the French palaces that make sardines feel claustrophobic. The locals are Dusty's (big machine-run pub. Friday night Rodeo, how was I supposed to know I was riding the thing backwards anyhows?, weekends packed with Vancouver olds reliving their yoof, great wedges) and Hoz's (howdy partner, even the locals feel new, old barflys telling tales of pre-chairlift hikery) - and this is notwithstanding Amsterdam (good scenery), Citta's (good patio) and Furniture Warehouse (good nuts) in the Village.
Been here since December 7th so quite a bit going on; www.upflatdown.com , green pants, just say no, LRG is the daddy, why have I never seen Shameless before?, surprising guests, bagels, punk hair, big ears, boxes of the C variety, blue cheese crackers red wine and telly, Tuesday margharitas, hearing every song from my pod on the system of my favourite pub, New Years Eve helping others win the Didja game, riding riding riding...
Love to y'all, C x
