Evening. Centralia, Washington state. Rubbish. Raining. Very basic motel in an industrial sprawl. But we couldn't give 2 hoots.
Mount Hood rocked. Another volcano, another load of terrain carved from molten rock (a few years back, not today, obviously.) Yeah, the snow wasn't great - check out the photos, it was like riding on the moon in places - but that didn't matter. Left Bend at stoopid o'clock and started riding Hood at about half 9 - we'd done every single lift by about half 12, and it was superb. Drops, gullies, treestumps to ollie off and grind, the sun was out and we were caning the hill. Hit the parks in the avo - I'm gonna try and upload some video of Abs flying off this one kicker, she goes miles the loony, no fear.
I'm telling you, volcanoes is where it's at. Granted, now and again they get a bit stroppy and start throwing their lava toys out of their molten prams, the lift systems are antiquated, the services are OK, the snow can suffer a bit and you have to drive to them... but the terrain is so unique, none of that's a problem cos you spend half the day in the air.
So pretty stoked with this roadtrip. These past 3 days have been some of the best riding ever, and now we're flopped on some squeaky bed in some cheesy motel watching mindless US tv with ENORMOUS grins. Back to Whistler tomorrow. By the way, I've put a shed load of photos on so take a look if you're bored...
Hope you and yours are fine and dandy - laters kids. Love n snogs, C
