. . . were picked up at 1:55 am to drive up to the Haleakalà Vulcano National Park (altitude about 3000m above sea level). When we arrived at the peak around 5:00am, it was still pitch black, very windy and bloody cold, despite our Patagonia down jackets, hats and gloves we were freezing. . . but the next 90 minutes compensated for our courage to get up sooo early and standing the wind and we were (with at least 150 Janapese, some Swedes and lots of Amercians) ...
