My first day at work:
Today I started a new period of my life. First day at my placement hotel. I was really nervous about it. I was already awake at 6 this morning although I could sleep until 9. I planned some more time just in case I'd get stuck or whatever could have happened but I was in time (way too early, so I said down on one of the benches in front of the Tower).
So I walked into the hotel and said heeeeeeeeeeelllllo, I'm the new girl. Well no, not quite that way but would have been funny. I had to wait a few minutes together with a man who turned out to be my future boss hehe. He is going to be F&B Manager and since I will start in F&B the first few weeks, he will be in charge of me. I think it's funny because we had the whole orientation with the rules and everything together.
We were picked up by the HR Manager and went to a meeting room to get to know everything about the company and the rules (at least that's my head felt like afterwards). It was actually kind of funny because we were doing a lot of chitchatting in between and making jokes. We even talked about football (what else would you expect from England?) but I couldn't contribute that much to this topic. But I said that I'm living close to Cologne (wooohooo Podolski Town) and that was basically it. We did a tour through the hotel, back office, rooms etc but I am sure that I will get lost. It will be a miracle if I find the women's dressing room tomorrow morning.
Afterwards I went to my favourite coffee house and tried to relaxed but I was interrupted by a huge crowd of Spanish Teenagers who were way too loud for their age and they thought that sitting next to me was a good idea. Hello? Just because I'm sitting alone at a table for four doesn't mean that the other three wonderful comfy armchairs are available, stupid kids! It actually gave me a real headache.
Then I went home but it rained as hell so I had to wait at the House of Fraiser until it ended....not a bad place to wait. Eventually it stopped but I bought an umbrella for the next time. This was actually the first time rain I've experienced in London EVER.
The rest of the day I relaxed and put my stuff into the room and talked to Corinna and my parents on skype.
This is it for now, see you later aligators!
