We caught the bus from the airport to the town of Bath to meet our rello's. Turns out our poppy - mums dad - had 3 family's that he kept secret until he died then the secrets all came out.. So we have loads of family we didn't no about!! In bath lives mums cousins Sue and Juliet, who are sisters, an their husbands. They have kids an then their kids also have young babies too so it's like 4 generations of cousins!
They are the most lovely welcoming people ever an Carmy an I were instant family to them!!! We had a big dinner with them all and heard story after story about our pop Ed an his adventurous life, it was a very jaw dropping night learning about family stories...
We spent the next day exploring this amazing city, it's full of history. We saw the Royal Cresent an the Roman Baths an so many other places that send your imagination spinning.
Carmy sadly had to leave at 5 the next morn an there were lotsa tears :( we'd had such an amazing trip an just knowing it'd be a long time before I would see her again made me fall apart a bit. I miss everyone so much an having Carmy here was having a peice of home with me, now she's gone an I'm here alone again - missing them...
Tomorrow Juliet has asked me to be her model for a painting class she does, the theme this week is portraits so I'll have a room full of people painting ME! Hahahhaha an ill get to keep some so that's pretty mad.
Juliet showed me everything she had about all the families so we could make a family tree, there's so many I spent a lot of time putting it together in the computer but didn't get a chance to finish it yet.
Juliet also teaches a 'Jane Austin' dance class so I went along an joined in. It felt like I was back in the 50's twirling around, they definitely danced a lot different to what we do now!!! No touching or grinding or crumping hahaha you prob would've been shot!
Sue came to pick me up an I went an stayed at their house for a few days. It was the most beautiful big house! Absolutely massive!! We went exploring and they showed me an amazing burnt down abbey which we walked through, hard to imagine what it would've been like in those days. We went to this old pub which over 100 people were hanged in, they still had the rope hanging from the staircase to show you where it happened, creepy.... We drove up through the black mountains admiring the amazing view, so many colours and all the trees were orange an red an yellow making the most beautiful pictures in the landscape.
Both nights I stayed we went down to the pub, this was the pub my pop Ed used to drink in all the time, it was really cool being there knowing he spent so much time there, I even sat in the same seat he used to sit in. I didn't really know him very well but there are hundreds of stories about him that's for sure!
It was so nice meeting an spending time with all of them! It felt like I was home again in a strange way because they're both big family homes an I got treated like their very loved daughter it was so nice. Just what I needed after such a crazy few months.
