Two Girls... One World
Wowzer... where did we get to? Ah... how could I forget... the legendary Lady Boys! He he!
Well since then it's been busybusybusy (new word) as we left the Bangsmellykok and headed south... Here goes...
We left Bangkok early on Fri 16th and drove to a floating market, where we got on canal boats for about 1/2 an hour and went through plantations and jungle (so different to BK!) Then we wandered around the market and then headed for the Death Railway (good name huh?!) We had lunch at a beautiful restaurant overlooking the River Kwai. Next we got on a train for about an hour, again through the plantations etc until we arrived at the Bridge on the River Kwai. We walked across it (scarily on the same bit the train goes on... I figure they'd honk if they were coming) and thenw ent to a museum nearby that told us all about the history, before seeing the cemetries of the POWs who died during the construction of the railway (hence the name, for anyone who didnt know!)
Next we boarded the night train... what an experience (see photos... very cramped) Suprisingly enough we got a good nights sleep... maybe passed out through shock at the state of the toilets... barf...
After a night on the train we got mini vans further south before getting a ferry to Koh Pha Ngan. As soon as we got on the ferry there were dolphins swimming around it - so cute! From the dock on Koh Pha Ngan we got pick up trucks for about 45 mins through the jungle and "roads" (term loosely used) to our resort. It's so pretty. It's on a bay with only a couple of restaurants and beach bungalows. Our bungalow is set back in the jungle part ... eek... which means... SPIDERS! Mum, I know you think I call wee tiny spiders big but believe me these are huge. Theres one above our path down to the beach which is about the size of my hand and all multicoloured... so Fleur and I have found a cross-country route to the beach instead!! he he!
Since we've been here we've been really busy... there's lots to do! We went on a snorkelling trip y'day then trekked through the jungle (as you do) to a waterfall where we cooled off with a swim :-) Much time has been spent lounging by the sea, but the sun is so hot that it's impossible to sunbathe! We went kayaking today for about an hour, which was nice but tomorrow is the most exciting day: We're off to ride on elephants!!! woooo!! Then in the evening we are going fishing :-)
Missing everyone lots, keep those messages coming!
Cya soonish
