Hello We thought we'd update our website before we head down south! Glad to see lots of you are leaving us messages - trust us, we get very excited so you're making our day!! Well... so much news since yesterday. We've changed hotel to a new one that isnt in such a nice location (check out our photos and the view...) Fleur got her hair braided last night (while I am still battling with the frizz!) It took four hours... four eye-opening, crazy people watching hours to be precise... OK... so there we are sat on Khao San Road when first of all the heavens open and there's a torrential downpour so there's four of us huddled under an umbrella, with the two women still plating Fleur's hair... then at about half eleven the Thai police come through and clear all stalls off the streets... so we went into a shop archway and they carried on plaiting seemingly immune or oblivious to the goings on around... We wondered for a while why they cleared the streets of stalls... maybe to make it safer? NO... we have concluded that they actually do it to make way for lady boys (yes, they exist)... as no sooner had we been ushered inside than men wearing high heels and small things trying to impersonate hot pants start parading the streets. Now, to us these are blatently men... to the drunken English guys sporting football shirts and the typical brits abroad look... they are, apparently, irresistable. Fortunately for Fleur she had a limited view of these goings on and was reliant on my commentary... although apparently my face said it all! It was a real eye opener... as it probably would have been for the drunken guys when they realised their woman was a man... can't help but think it serves them right though! He he! So... anyone planning on travelling to Bangkok anytime soon... AVOID Khao San Road late at night (unless you want a shock!) I don't think it's the place for two girls from sleepy little Warsash... Anyway we just wanted to add that before we move on.
