Two Girls... One World
Hello everyone!
Quick update... going to write more from Hervey or Brisbane as not much to report at the mo...
We;re currently in Airlie (check out photos from Airlie Beach and Mag Is/ Airlie on the photo pages)...
Not much to do here as the weather is pretty shocking... rain and cloud... like being in England, except we gather England is 'so hot right now'... stop stealing our sunshine! We've been shopping and wandering around and making jewellery in our new fav shop 'Fun To Bead' (and yes... it IS fun to bead... very fun in fact... we're addicted to making various bits of jewellery!) Our hostel is dead noisy and we're sharing a dorms with three boys who are a bit smelly, yet seem to spend hours in the bathroom... either they were ripped off when they bought their deodrants and actually got given stink bombs in an aerosol, or have severe bowel problems...
We've been sharing with two girls we met in Cairns and have travelled with on and off since then too... They're really sweet and a bit nuts (always helps) like us too! Also... they're 17 and 18 and think we're cool so they're good to have around! Emma was like "I didn't think 22 yr olds would be like you... I thought they'd be boring" No sir-y... not us! They've gone off on a sailing trip now but we cooked dinner together last night - no more pasta and cheese for us... we had fajitas with chicken (I picked it out! - Karen), avocado, peppers, onions, mushrooms, salsa, sour cream, guacamole etc... very yummy and we even took photos (See Airlie Beach folder) to prove our culinary skills (OK... so we only had to fry stuff then wrap it in a tortilla but it looked pretty impressive!) And we have leftovers for tonight too... woo... You don't know just how excited we were to eat something other than pasta and timtams (although u can never have too many timtams!) We've also been out for the last two nights... just to reitterate that 22 yr olds aren't boring! The barman convinced us to buy jugs of beer because they were cheapest then laughed at us when we drunk them threw straws looking incredibly girly... Then we moved onto snake bite (lager, cider and blackcurrant) so Karen's Rose Wine column (your stomach has different columns for different foods and drinks, in case anyone is unaware of Kate-O's logic!) got confused because it was the right colour but wrong taste... The little man that regulates the column (yes... there is a small man inside each column too... dont want salad gatecrashing the toast column do we?!?) is looking forward to a few glasses of pink wine on our return to England!
Anyway we are off tomorrow morning bright and early (7 am - which is 10pm your time!) to Kroombit. It's a long journey south, and quite a way inland but itll be nice to see another part of Oz other than beach areas. We're staying on a cattle ranch... expect amusing photos as we trying to lassoo various animals! Howdy par'ner!
Keep us up to date with all the shenanigans at home via the message board!
Lots of love and squisses!
