Two Girls... One World
Woohoo now we can finally boast about the weather... blue skies, sunshine, anything up to 38 degrees in the daytime... nice and cool at night!
Yes, we are in Fiji! Have spent ten days here, and spent a week of that cruising and exploring the Yasawa islands. We went to 4 islands: Sunrise, Manta Ray, Kuata and Bounty Island. Some were really basic and no hot water or electric in the rooms, while M/ray and Bounty were more luxurious. Bounty Island was the island on which Celebrity Love Island was filmed last year. Some of the set is now in ruins, but we swam in the pool, went in the 'love shack' walked along the pier and drank at the bar!
We're now back on the mainland, where we've mostly sunbathed although we ventured into the city the other day to post some postcards... the city was like any other overpopulated place... a bit smelly and very hot! But we flet like celebrities - for some reason a bus full of school kids got very excited when they saw us and started screaming and waving!
During our time here we've not done all that much - just lots of relaxing! We went on a village visit, did lots of snorkelling and went "ing" (fishing, minus the fish - nobody caught anything!) I (Karen) also did some runnign but now have poorly shins again so stopped... however, I found a running partner in the form of a lady working on one of our resorts, and then got invited for tea and scones at her aunts place... which was a very basic straw hut with nothing inside... and she only had two mugs so she sat and watche Eta and I drink. She didnt speak much English but I could tell she was lovely - she didnt have much to offer, but offered me all she had. It was a real Fijian experience and unforgettable despite how simple it was. I got Eta's address so I can send her some presents when Im back, and some tea bags for her aunt who Eta said had never tried English tea (shocking!)
Better sign off, moving onto Hawaii tonight... b in touch from there
