BANGKOK, THAILAND. WEDNESDAY JUNE 9 2010, 1600 HRS.
Done and seen quite a few things during the past weeks... Been chillin' out with some big-ass tigers, poisonous cobras and huge crocodiles, been at the bridge over the River Kwai, been hanging out at some of the biggest shopping centers in Asia etc. etc.
Last week, the first night after the curfew, I went out to have some drinks and in the middle of the night while on my way back to the guesthouse, two police officers stopped me and practically strip-searched me right there in the middle of the street. As a model citizen, of course everything was cool, and afterwards one of the police officers tapped me on the shoulder and said: "You're a good man." I had a hard time not to start laughing.
The rainy monsoon season is now beginning here. The weather is hot, just below 40 °C and every day there's a short, very sudden burst of heavy rain with thunder which lasts for less than an hour. Then it's sunshine again.
I have a ticket back home now. Even the thought of leaving Asia feels very strange and odd, but the fact is that my flight from Bangkok leaves on June 22nd, and I'll be in Finland, at Helsinki-Vantaa airport on June 23rd. So now that I still have two weeks left of this journey, I'll spend it by taking it easy and by allowing myself a two-week leisure holiday. I'll just relax. No sight-seeing, not going anywhere... only sleeping, Thai massages, eating, drinking, exercising, getting a tan, sleeping, reading, Thai massages, movies and cinema, eating, exercising, sleeping… and did I already mention Thai massages?
