Hey all, hope you're all well back in Sunny England. Yet again apologies for the time between blogs but internet time is valuable and when it takes an hour just to do the photos you kind of run out of energy. Anyway we're here now.
So what have we been doing since the last time? Well to be honest not a lot really, this seems to be the theme of these blogs but it is honestly so easy to just pass time doing nothing yet still enjoy it, I guess thats why we're here though. Anyway we will start with Bali. We arrived at Bali after our short stay in Singapore (which incase I didn't mention it was an eye opener, we thought we were ruthless salesmen but those guys take a whole new meaning to the word rip off merchants!, anywho we did our best bartering and came out with good deals on video cameras). Right where was I, oh yeah Bali. We decided to book ourselves a hotel for the first night as we were arriving at midnight and wanted somewhere to crash. After looking on the internet we found a 4* for 15 each so decided to have one night of luxery. Well luxery it was, it was part of the accer group and we ended up staying there two nights to relax. We then decided to head to a place called Kuta. Kuta was advertised as the backpackers and surfers paradise of Bali and to be honest it should have been. However it was unfortunatly very quiet due to the previous bombs and the bomb scares which was a real shame as I am sure when busy the place would have had a really good feel to it. However we made the most of the quietness to give ourselves time to recover from Thailand and get ready for Oz.
After swapping our 4* accomodation for 3* we then decided to downsize again to a 1/2* place, however it was really nice and the guys that ran it were very friendly and helped us out loads. Now like I said Bali was spent relaxing but we did manage to see some of the sights. We took a tour around some of the island which included us watching a traditional bali dance/panto, touring the monkey forest, which to be fair was the highlight of Bali. The monkeys as you can see from the pics were everywhere and you took fruit with you which they hassled you for until you gave in. After this we then stopped at some rice paddies and had some lunch at the highest point overlooking some volcano's. After the week we'd spent in the hussle bussle of Kutas little market streets getting hassled left right and centre it was nice to see the other side of Bali. We also tried a spot of surfing with another guy we had met. None of us were that good but we rode the odd wave and hanged 10, it was narly and we were all totally stoked that we'd killed the waves man! See what I mean not that good! We also in typical english fashion got burnt to b*****y and suffered severly since, but the tan looks good so hey who cares if we got a little pain!
We decided to leave Bali a few days earlier as to get to Oz and this is where we now are. We flew into Cairns on Monday and spent a few nights seeing the sights of Cairns city. Well more like a town but we explored them anyway. Whilst there we also managed to purchase our van that is due to take us to Sydney. As you can see from the pictures the van we have chose is a 1984 Toyota Targara people carrier. We have so far spent 1 night in it and I can tell you we will not be doing it again!. However other than this the thing is a beast, 0-60 in 3 hours and cairns to sydney in 4 months! We hope! it turns like a tug boat and the gears pull but we love it. It has air con, a fridge, 8 seats, moonroof and sunroof and some dodgy smells.
The first trip we took was to Port Dougls. Here I dived the Great Barrier Reef and had a great dive. There were only 3 of us so it was so easy and relaxed and spent loads of time in the water. We then headed down in the pouring rain to Mission Beach, and that my friends is where we're stuck! It has rained constantly since we've been here, and I mean proper hardcore piss down rain! It is so bad that the roads are closed between here and airlie beach (our next stop) needless to say we're not happy but hey it could be worse we could be at home working and believe you me I would rather be here than in the offices of AndersElite Cardiff (god bless some of you but nothing would bring me back there right now!! ha ha).
Anyway that is pretty much that for now. We are busy planning our next 4 months and what we shall be doing to enjoy ourselves in the sun. I will be sure to update the blog again soon when we have more pictures and more stories to tell. But for now thanks for listening, you've been a great audience. I will be here for the next 6 months so catch me when you can. Good night, God Bless and have a safe journey home!
