Nothing Will Kill Your Buzz About A Trip Like A Category 4 Cyclone
So, I was really pumped for this trip, mainly because I would get to relax and spend Christmas/New Years with my new Fijian friends, but all that was shattered by the news that Vorovoro was about to take a direct hit from Cyclone Damon. Having seen and heard about the damage that was left in Labasa and on Vorovoro after the cyclone in February this year, I would be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little concerned about what this monster cyclone could potentially do to our village and the possibility that after many months of rebuilding and getting things back on track with the help of our Fijian friends, we could be back to square one again.
It's not something I want to dwell on. It's out of our hands, all we can do is hope and pray that the cyclone takes mercy on us. With the likelihood of flooding in Labasa, my plans to travel to Nadi on Sunday, and Labasa on Monday, look to be sketchy at best. I have a feeling that I might well be stuck in Nadi for a few days, which is not the way I wanted to start my holiday. Once I'm able to get up to Labasa, I'm expecting there to be a massive cleanup effort on Vorovoro and Mali, but it's the least I can do for the people of Mali in return for everything they have given us
