All riding and no internet makes George a dull boy!
I woke up at 8AM in Scranton, PA to beautiful blue skies! So, it was off to head west to Lake Erie, except I wound up getting sidetracked... thanks to my trusty POS Garmin GPS. UGH! and went a little to far north before turning around and getting directions from some really nice people. Actually everyone I met today was Super friendly. Actually..the farther you get from Philly, the nicer people seem to get....odd!
Anywayz, I headed west on old scenic route 6. Stopped off and saw Marie Antoinettes Farm house, that she apparently died before she got to see. shrug. Then I rode thru Camptown, PA...which I found out was famous for the Camptown Races, and the song. "camptown ladies sing this song...doo dah, doo dah... AWESOME! So I rode on west singing doo dah doo dah all the way along with visions of loony toons until I got just west of the Allegheny Forest where the sky went from gorgeous blue, to Friggin BLACK! So, I took shelter at a BP gas station along with 2 other bikers from Detroit, and we sat there for about an hour waiting for the rain to subside. Wet bikers actually came in by the dozens, and we all sat around trading stories and just hanging out. Everyone was really cool.
Eventually, it was time to hit the road and get my ass to Erie, Pa. Which about an hour later was a HUGE letdown...actually it was a Huuuuuuuuuuge let down. Really a run down white trashy kind of town. The lake however was massive, basically Ocean like. minus the waves.
I forgot to mention that I was SUPPOSED to sleep that night in a campground right on the beach there at lake erie, but the rain kept THAT from happening once again, so it was off to find a hotel.......Cue spooky music. BATES MOTEL it is!!!!!!!
Man, this place was a dump and by far the crappiest motel I was ever in (so far, lol) it stunk, it had horror movie writtin all over it. Hell...I even got eaten alive but SOME kind of microscopic bugs in the middle of the night. bedbugs....fleas..I have no idea. but worst sleep so far.
so, today was so so, I met some really nice people. had MOSTLY good weather till the late afternoon. oh..I also dropped the bike earlier today.sucked ass! but at least I was able to pick it up solo. phew!
Rode 11 hours, 385 miles today, honked at 8 different groups of cows, oh...and also lost a plastic piece of my bike SOMEWHERE in PA...bummer dude!
total miles: 531
