Storm clouds 50%
Today we woke up to foggy weather, but it was warm.
We're off to ride up to Lake Ontario in New York State and follow it NE to Oswego.
This is my first motorbike trip with my new bike. My old Honda Shadow (may she rest in piece) was totaled by a friend a couple of years ago. So now I am riding a 2001 Triumph Bonneville, which I absolutely LOVE. As far as long bike rides go, usually after about 100 miles your butt starts to ache, and you need a rest. It only needs to be a 10-15 minute rest, stretch the legs, grab some water and a protein bar, and you're good for another 100 miles again. But this is my first trip with the Triumph, and I love it! Lisbeth is her name. Given to her I believe by her former owner. I tend to forget this name and seldom call the bike that, but I suppose I can carry on the tradition. Lisbeth...it fits her.
Refuel the bike/Refuel the body
We did close to 300 miles yesterday all in all. and today would be about 225. Not epic miles, but its slower going out here then it is out west. slower miles. Not sure if that is because of the roads or the amount of cars or what.
So we rode North through partly cloudy weather and after about 100 miles hit the lake.
BAM! the temperature dropped at least 10 degrees, maybe more. It was like being hit with an invisible cold front.
The lake was beautiful. And by cold, I mean it was not freezing, just a shock that the temperture could drop that quick.
Actually more beautiful were the houses along the lake. Big beautiful mansions with decks overlooking the lake. These people are living pretty damn good. Later Al and I looked up the prices of some of these McMansions and were shocked to find that they were not as expensive as we both thought. Don't get me wrong... One was 1.5 Million, and Im sure there were others even more, but the majority were 250k-350k and AMAZING looking. That's about the average price for a regular house in poop-hole, NJ.
Poop-hole, NJ....look it up...it exists....I swear!
So anyway, we rode on east along the river more or less to hit our destination of Oswego, NY.
Sometimes we were on a 4 lane highway that we were told by a local was seldom traveled. Well, seldom traveled was a bit of a lie. NO-ONE traveled this highway. it was really weird. Like end of the world weird. No lie, we only saw 2 cars the entire time we were on it. I should of taken a picture of it, but of course didn't. At any rate, we traveled on, and we knew rain was possibly coming. 50% chance at least, and behind us was a huge ugly dark mass of clouds chasing us.
Needles to say, it caught us by the last maybe 30 mins of the ride. Not TOO bad. Not a down pour, just a drizzle at best. So I think we got pretty lucky. Found a crap motel and called it a day.
