Welcome!
Well we've made it into Kruger and have decided to stay for a few days in the Skakuza area. Our first night was in a 'chalet' with real beds and running water. Most of the camps throughout this park have various accommodations. They usually consist of campgrounds (car camping), chalets, guest cottages, family cottages, and private lodges. The first night in the chalet was fairly uneventful with the exception of an aggressive vervet monkey...the little dear. It was trying to steal our neighbor's tomatoes. I asked Steve quickly if I should chase it and discourage its deviant ways. He assured me this was the right course. Thinking this would be an easy task I ran toward the thieving monkey with arms waving and shouting in my best monkeese. It was not impressed in the least and came at me with a far more impressive show. Freakin' yikes man. Have the tomatoes. Steve thought this whole incident was fairly amusing.
So we have set up our camp amoungst so many others in our cramped, noisy, monkey infested but fairly low mosquito count area. We checked out the library today and it seems to have some decent research material although most of it was published when people were still using papyrus. We'll see if it is of any use as time passes.
The tortoise is holding up well and is fairly comfortable up top. The tent is extremely easy to fold and unfold, which is great considering we have to use the vehicle to drive as well as sleep in. Well, until next time...trudge on.
