Last night the last thing I thought before actually falling asleep was: Wow! What a beautiful holiday!
It's been the best I could wish for (exception of 2 days in Mykonos)!
Everything I imagine and hoped for and so much more. So many wonderful and life altering memories and moments! None of which I could ever even anticipate or hope to put a value on: proving yet again, there is absolutely no price set for experience!
One week to go and let me tell you...no holes barred!
I recall, with such happiness, last night: the very definition of '...making lemons into lemonade...' when, as the thunder clapped, and the rain fell (for about 7 minutes) Robyn and Mike pulled out their umbrellas (bought for €5 here) and continued enjoying their brûlée and cake while everyone else ducked for cover indoors! Now! That's living!!!!!
This morning, while resting in my hotel I heard the clap of big Thunder. It so added to the entire experience. So I found some Medieval Florentine tunes. Put them on and was whisked away to 15th Century Florence as I walked above the Pont a Vecchio...in the corridor above street level, of course, and sweeping through to the Pitti Palace!
After bidding Peter a fond adieu back on his long 10 hour journey to Vienna we set on our own trip to Lucca! It has been so great, as always, to catch up with Peter. After 5 years it's nice to just "be" and catch up without language restrictions and explanations. He typifies all the class and sensibility of his home in beautiful Vienna!
We had to go 2nd class to Lucca! Bit squashy, but that's the way it goes. Everyone jumping on board with packs and cases! Not the faster train so we were able to see passing scenery...
When we arrived we hired a bike we could all sit on. Bad idea!!
...to be continued
