hope you all having fun in the snow!!
we are at lakes entrance at the moment, and were a bit tired as there was a big storm early hours this morning so we dived into the car to take cover!!
we've had a brilant few days on the road so far. our first stop was philip island where we watched the peguins coming up onto the beach at night. it was so funny as baby penguins were in there nest and come out to find there parents returning from the sea and went so mental when they found the right mum or dad, it was really entertaining and they were so cute!! the next day we went to see the pelicans being fed , and it was brillant. we walked along the pier next to where they feed the pelicans and watched 5/6 huge stingrays in the shallow feeding off the little fish!! there was no way we were going swimming though after seeing them!! we had a good look around the island stopping in on some of the beaches ( we were the only people on most of them) and checking out the seal rocks where we found more baby penguins in their nests no sign of jaws though ( great white was spotted here from the coast about a week ago, he's been hanging around for a while. reason number two why we are not going swimming!!)
so our next stop was wilsons promotory. the most southerly point on the mainland. it was so beautiful here. it only has one road and one place to stay. all the rest could only be hiked over. there is so much wildlife here and it is so green. we went to the beaches when we got there and we even saw a wombat (one that was alive...horay!!) we watched the sunset from the beach and it was very gorgeous, but cold so we left when we thought it was over and then the whole sky lite up pink as soon as we got in the car!!! doh!! the next day we went on a walk to a lookout point which was cool, but it was very hot so we had a relax until evening when we hiked to the top of mountain oberon and watched the sunset. it was amazing there was just us surrounded by a 360 degree view mountains on one side sea on other...beautiful. that night we also came across another wombat not far from our tent, we are not allowed to keep any food in our tent otherwise they'll come in and pinch it apparently!!
then we made our way to lakes entrance stopping at a national park along the way where we spotted a lyrebird, a wallaby and a cute little vole before arriving at lakes entrance for a relax!!
our next stop is eden in new south wales. hoping to make it to sydney but next weekend but there is so much too see!!
