Ok so the rest of yesterday was spent wandering along the cliff-front in Miraflores. We saw a few people doing paragliding and we're quite tempted to give that a go once we reach the Sacred Valley in Cusco. For lunch we ventured into a modern-looking fish restaurant at the top of the cliffs. Kim had a salmon dish and I had seafood with spaghetti topped off with a lobster (I hope the photo comes out!).
Later that evening we went out in Miraflores, along one of the main streets for bars and restaurants. It was quite amusing being harranged outside every single one for a free Pisco Sour if we went to their restaurant. In the end we settled for a drink in a Brazilian bar before popping next door to a Cuban bar where they were doing salsa. We grabbed a cheese omelette there (tortilla de queso) before heading home via a supermarket where we picked up some Cusquena beer!
That evening we had a look through the guidebooks and we have booked a tour through Lima this evening and decided we both fancy trying some hang-gliding, dune-buggying and maybe a bit of archaelogy too. We've also decided that we will probably rent an apartment in Cusco for a month to make things a bit cheaper.
We've also made contact with Myra, a friend of my Mother from school who often does work at an orphanage out in Peru. She has given us contact details for the boys' home outside Lima where we'll perhaps try to do some work later on the trip. The contact Myra gave us happens to also run a hostel in Miraflores too and by unbelievable luck it happens to be the very one we're staying at at the moment. If you want to see our current hostel goto: www.hostalelpatio.net If you want to see where we going to be staying in Cusco, please visit: www.sumacwasi.com.
Anyway, that's about it for now! Pete
