Today, we wandered around Aguas Calientes for a little while and decided that it was a really nice little town but rather expensive. We grabbed a burger up near the springs and a quick drink before it was time to head to the station to get our Vistadome train back to Cusco.The journey was very picturesque and we were treated to some traditional dance as well as a fashion show. Last Day...... So 4am our guide comes around to wake us up and tells us to start getting ready to hike. We quickly get our bags ready (we had to carry our rucksacks again today as there were no porters for this last bit) and get dressed for the last day of trekking. We assemble in the main campsite building for a short briefing by Ruben. He tells us that after the first checkpoint which we will go through at 5.30am there is approximately another 1 and half hours...

Day Three........ Well today was a fairly ride in terms of walking. The hardest part of the trek was the first half an hour being uphill from camp to the pass where, had the weather been a little better, we'd have had our first view of Machu Picchu Mountain. Anyway from the pass we descended to an Inca ruin where our guide gave an explanation of the structures, etc. Those Inca people were rather clever really. He told us of a pool that they had built further...

Day Two.... A challenge is probably the biggest understatement of the century! Day two should have been named something along the lines of "Yeah right!" Kim and I opted to have our packs carried by porters today and tomorrow as we had struggled the day before. The start of the day was not too bad. The start of the trail!!! Scary stuff. We woke up very early to get our bus from Cusco to KM82 stopping briefly in Ollantaytambo for some breakfast.
