Sorry havn't been able to blog much - no time and internet is expensive in some places,
Charleston was really good. The weather was really hot and sunny and we got a bit burnt. Got there in the eve and went to a Mexican for dinner then to a bar then a club. Met some cool people until we realised they were racists and started being really offensive! Seems like Charleston still has issues. The next day we went on a horse drawn carriage tour of the town, saw some old houses which were really pretty (used to belong to old plantation owners). Then went in one of the houses and had a creepy tour guide who showed us around (Ailsa liked him). In the eve went on a tour called the dark side of Charleston and saw all the old brothels and the stories to go with them. Got a bike taxi back to the hostel and the driver said he liked our shoes (clunky walking boots!) Had to leave the next day really early to catch 5am train.
Arrived in Orlando about 12 and the weather was lovely. Checked into our hotel which was like a 5* in comparison to what we had been staying in! A double bed each, private bathroom, tv even a pool. Went to Denny's for lunch then bought tickets for universal studios (theme parks in Harry Potter World). Which is where we spent that evening and the next day. Hardly any queues, we got to go on all rides loads of times. Ailsa screamed the whole way through most of them (except the baby roller coaster she made Anna go on) and on one where you could choose a song to listen to, screamed in time to the music without realising. Instead of going to kissimmee the next day we decided to stay thinking wecould sunbathe but the sun went in. So we went to sweet tomatoes for lunch (salad buffet) then to the mall. Spent the final morning sunbathing by the pool before catching our final trainto miami.
Miami is very very very hot but no sun! The beach is nice and empty due to lack of sun. Sea is nice. Picking car up tomorrow morn and we think Ailsa might also be able to drive!
More soon, wish us luck for our driving bit of the US of A!

Lesley Glad you had a bit of luxury in the hotel and jealous of the theme park! Nothing like a roller coaster for making you forget your other worries and concentrate on staying alive (or is that just me?). Racism doesn't surprise me - we found it in Orlando quite strongly. Takes you aback, tho doesn't it..... makes you realise that perhaps GB isn't so bad after all. Good luck with the driving. And THANKS for doing the blog - really enjoying it!
Ceiri Van Haeften I am glad you are having such a fun time. Bit jealous about the theme parks though! Good that there were not any queues. Be careful how you drive. Amazed you have made all your connections!
Ceiri Van Haeften Horatio! Yay!
