Just arrived in new york. Check out the beautiful photo of us in Niagara.

So we arrived in Niagara Falls on Friday evening after long journey from Chicago. The train left Union Station and stopped at Buffalo (more like Buffa-no to be honest as there was barely anything there). Had to walk miles to get some breakfast - pancakes, bacon, eggs etc from 'Londa's Diner'. Ailsa then found sun cream had exploded in her bag (just the top half, phew, but still annoying and typical). Train left Buffalo for Niagara Falls at 4ish in the afternoon and we arrived at Niagara NY an hour and a half later. The Niagara Amtrak station was also a bit of a dump but got a cab to the other side. After checking in (was a dog called Nacho) we went to see the falls and they were all lit up at night. The Canada side is full of casinos, fairground rides etc which is a bit like Blackpool. Next day we did Maid of the Mist - boat tour into/on the edge of the falls which was really cool (this is where the delightful photo was taken). We then took a walk behind the falls, which tbh was a bit of a rip off - $15 to stand behind a waterfall where you couldn't see anything. We then walked across to the American side which, although the view of the falls wasn't as impressive, it didn't have as many tacky touristy attractions. WE did a bus tour around the falls and ate back in Canada at Hard Rock Cafe (Greek salad.)

Left for New York at 05.45 this morning (same taxi driver) and got here about an hour ago but haven't seen anything yet. Amtrak trains are nice and spacious but move SO SLOWLY. Probs going out to Hooters bar tonight (on the instruction/advice of Rona). Will blog when we get to Washington DC (9 May)
