Hey everyone!! Or maybe Nihau
We just thought we should blog about our time in Beijing before we leave for the Great Wall tomorrow.
First of we would like to present the T&T rules for moving around Beijing:
Rule the first:
When moving around the city on foot, you are soley responsible for your own safety, meaning that cars and other vehicles with wheels will run you over when you are trying to cross the streets, and it does not matter to them wether or not you have a green light. Aparently one does not have to stop for a red light here. Our tip to you, when crossing the streets, is to find a small group of locals, and simply follow in their footpaths. If there are no locals at your street corner, we recomend that you simply try to cross the streets as best you can, while praying like hell to your god!!!
Rule the second:
Never come to a full stop while walking around the streets, unless you intent to attrackt a huge swarm of annoying rickshawdrivers, who do not understand the meaning of no! And it does not help to scout for them before you stop, because they are silent and fast like ninjas, we actually belive that they are the true ninjas of China.
Rule the third:
When going with the subway, one has to remember one key rule, and that is if you are polite, and\or que up in order to enter or exit the train, you will be stuck in one place forever! The best way to avoid this is to shove and push as best you can, and hope that some eager chinese won't accidentally push you out the doors.
Ricshaw Joke:
We run into more rickshawdrivers than Bruce Willis does Russian terrorists!
Well enough about rickshaws, because we have an important announcement to make.... We are totally famous!!! Everywhere we goe, chinese people come up to us and ask u, if they can have a picture taken with us! No s***!! I think we have had our pictures taken like a million times already, and just this morning, these two young guys on the subway took a "discreat" picture of us while giggeling the whole time.... it was odd!! And fun, we are kind of thinking about turning it in to a buisness, like 1 yuan per picture or something... We would be rich..... or at least less poor.
But I guess you want to know what we have been up to besides being attacked by vicious ex-ninja rickshawdrivers, or having our pictures taken with young eligeble chinese bachelors - And to answer that, we have been sight-seeing. The first couple of days we really didn't go anywhere. We mostly slept or relaxed, in order to get over our massive jetlag. But on the third day we found wandering the halls of our hostle, by one of the girls in our group, and we decided to venture outside of our comfortzone, the hostle, together. And so our little group went to see the forbidden city and Tianmin Square (den himmelske freds plads) on our first full day together, but unfortunally they had closed of the square because of some confrence... We hate you Anders Fogh!!! (Danish Prime minister who attended said confrence and who we now blame for the inconvenience) But we still got to see the picture of Mao's huge mole.... seriously that thing was enormous, kinda funny though! After that we ventured into the forbidden city. It is like massive, you know when you see it on TV you think, yeah, sure it's big, but no it's HUGE, and packed with shoving chinese. But it was still great to see. When we were done we went to the Lamatemple. (Dalai Lama, not the spitting kind) It was a beautiful struckture, and the mood was really special, because there was a thik fog of incence and people were praying, and they had monks... And we do love monks!!!
Today we went to see the olympic city, not because we care but Amy wanted to see it. It was okay, alll the buildings looked like they had come strait out of a Sci-Fi movie, it was just great! We havent done much else, because we had to do our laundry by hand, all the laundromats were only in chinese, and we didn't wan't to shrink all our clothes!!
Well we better sign of now, our hour is almost up!! See you guys later. And remember if you want to be a ninja, come to Beijing and study under the Rickshaw drivers!!
Bye
P.S. Computer is slow as BIIIIIP BIP BIPso we will upload our Beijing photos at another location.
