Hi everyone! Hope all is well..
A mail from Siem Reap in Cambodia.. What a time getting here.. We did a night bus from Koh Tao to Bangkok and we got to Bangkok the following morning and as soon as we got there we jumped straight onto another bus that toomk us to the Cambodian Border.. What a nightmare..!!!
First off, we got the ferry to Chumpon from Koh Tao and there was this old German guy smoking pot and drinking beer on the way over (he looked a right one!) after an hourn delay waiting for our VIP night bus me and Paul jumped on downstairs which was like a private cabit.. 4 seats and a corner settee.. We took 2 seats, another couple had the other seats and a girl (18) traveling alone and tthe German guy both had the corner settee (was big and they had their heads at opposite ends)... Old German guy was reading this sexy book with a dominatrix on the front. Looked like a mad porn novel! Anyways, we had been on the bus for about 4 hours, had a stop then all got back on to finish the rest of the journey.. As it was 1.30am the bus turned off all the lights but there was a little bit of light from rondom street lights along the road as we didnt shut curtains... Everyone was alseep and i couldnt get comfortable so i was shuffling about and as i turned my head, what did i see?!!................ OLD DIRTY GERMAN GUY WITH ALL HIS BITS OUT TOUCHING HIMSELF IN A WAY YOU SHOULDNT INFRONT OF OTHER PEOPLE!!! I went mad!! I screamed and shouted all the perverts under the sun, thinking of it now its actually quite funny!! You cant do anything to him or tell the driver cos no one cares.. In the end we all slept with 1 eye open!! By the time we got to Bangkok we were hanging but wanted to get the hell outta there and meet our friends Kath and Rich in Cambodia.. We ended up on the "scam bus" which the Lonely Planet warns you abaout as they rip you off and take ages to get to Siem Riep so by the time you get there its about 12-1am, they drop you off at a b&b you dont wanna stay in and then when you try and leave all hell breaks loose.. We didnt hang around to find out, we got thru the boader and got a taxi.. The 4 hour journey is along a path like road, not flat, oh no, its the most loud and bumpy ride as the road isn't a proper one and there was a storm!! ABSOLUTE HELL!! Was all worth while when we got to our lovely guest house, we chilled out and for the first time in ages had a lovely sleep!
Went and done Angkor Wat Temples too, what a fab time, is so grand and beautiful, wild monkeys just walking around and a lot of monks.. We went to the temple where they filmed Tomb Raider with that big tree just growing in the middle of it.. ended up taking a wrong turn though and we were in an out of bounds area so we got extras!!! Its a must for anyone in Cambodia, how they made them and sculpted all of the detail!! We did two days and on the second day we went for 5am and watched the sun rise over the main temple. We paid our Tuk Tuk driver $10 for him to drive us and wait about for us all day.. Was great, we had a lovely Tuk Tuk driver with a stutter to take us round and we struck a deal that if he came for us at 5am the following morning and drove us round we would pay him $5, he obviously jumped at the chance but when we were driving his Tuk Tuk broke down so he tried to get us to both get on the back of some passer bys moped! We refused and took our $% elsewhere although we did feel bad :-(
Not much else going on here, meeting our mates at next destination.....Lets just hope the bus journey is ok!!!!
