Hi everyone!!

Hope all is ok in Sunny South Shields... Just updating my blog with my recent goings on!

In a place called Phnom Penn, Cambodia.. Staying in the Sister of Number 9 Guesthouse which is actually on the lake.. Rooms are like sweat boxes cos its so hot and there is only a fan (and ours in sh*t) so early mornings and endless cold showers!! Met some lovely people as wee as our traveling mates Kath, Rich, Helen & the lovely Emily.. There is also more people traveling together so we all sat at our guest house and got drunk.. You can have a tab so as you can imagine im knocking them back like they are free!!! We have a lovely view, there is a tv with loads of dvd's just in the bar area (which is on stilts over lake) and hammoks too so its very chilled!! Had a mad night on on Whiskey buckets and a club called HEART OF DARKNESS... Need i say more? Bit of different place here as its well knows for their S-21 (now) musiem and the "Killing Fields" which is what happened as a result of Pol Pot in the 70s and i was very ashamed i wasnt aware! In a nutshell without too much detail there was a mass Genocide where Pol wanted to wipe out all families that were proffesionals, who could speak English, little overweight (as that indicated they had money) rich people, dentists doctors and their kids just incase they grew to be smat as all he wanted was farmers.. (communists) everyone to do the same and not question anything, start again from "year zero" so the group Khmer Rouge was formed.. All these people were taken to an old school that was used as tourture chambers, they recorded EVERY PERSON who was taken there (S-21) and took a photo..Once tourtured they were taken to the Killing Fields and killed, buried alive, babies had their heads smashed off a tree to save ammuntion and all put into mass graves.. As you can imagine, this day was very sad! There is all the pics of eveyone all on show, thousands of skulls that have holes, cracks and brakes in them... Not good at all!!

We are heading to Shinaukville soon though, which is on the cost of Cambodia with beaches etc and we are going in a group of 8 and the bus down was only 4.50 each... Happy days!! xxxx
