Arrival, Nov. 20th: Today I am in Ljubljana, Slovenia. I arrived here at 10:30 AM. It is about 50°F, not to cold. It was a 5 and a half hour flight. I got my rental car (this one wasn't so ugly). Then I went to go get my Euros(Slovenia currency).I am staying at the Birokrat Hotel.
Why Slovenia: I picked Slovenia for three main reasons. The first reason is that my mom visited Slovenia and she said it was wonderful. Also that it is a place to relax. Lastly it has marvelous natural sites.
Packing: I packed a winter coat, my blue fleece, three short sleeve shirts, two long sleeve shirts, three pairs of pants, one pair of shorts, my tennis shoes, my fuzzy black boots, my warm pajamas, my gloves, and my hat. I also packed my toiletries consisting of a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush, makeup, shampoo, conditioner, and my lotion.
Day 1 of 4, Nov. 20th: Today (after doing all my chores) I saw the Ljubljana zoo, it has so many animals, it is also kind of small so you get to see a lot without walking super far (also I can't get lost), and it has an 11 AM sea lion show. I loved the elephants, they were so cute! I also went to the Ljubljana castle just outside of the old town (which I also visited), I got the all-inclusive ticket so I got to see all the exhibits without many restrictions on the exhibits, the castles was built in 1200 BCE, it was most likely a Roman army stronghold, located on Castle Hill, and it was built for the Ottoman war. The castle was beautiful. I had potato njoki pasta. Then I went to the New Old Town in Ljubljana (mentioned before) it is an excellent shopping place and food, it is called the New Old Town because the Old town was extremely old so workers restored it and it is now the New Old Town, although some just call it the Old town. I shopped for a while then went back to the hotel for dinner (I ordered room service).
Day 2 of 4, Nov. 21st: Today I woke up just to hustle my way to the lobby, eat, and get to touring! For breakfast I had a muffin and left. First I went to the Technical Museum of Slovenia it is a museum where heritage and nature tell great stories (truthfully I don't see why they call it the technical museum). I spent a lot of time at this museum. I decided to go back to my hotel and find a good place for relaxation (I get stressed when I travel). I ended up spending the rest of my day in the hotel spa. For dinner I had small boiled dumplings filled with potatoes, onions and lards.
Day 3 of 4, Nov. 22nd: This morning I woke up refreshed. I ate a waffle of sorts for breakfast. I wanted to have a little bit of fun and games on my trip so I went to do mini golf! The mini golf was spectacular. I also am horrible when it comes to golfing. I am now ecstatic about the rest of my trip, I am happy and refreshed! Then I went to lunch a had prekmurska gibanica a pastry made of eight layers, contains poppy seeds, walnuts, apples, raisins, and a ricotta filling. Then I went on a walk around the Tivoli Park. My walk tried me out. The walk seemed a lot shorter than it really was. I decided to rest for a little, I drove around town. I finally felt rested and started to drive to the National Museum of Contemporary History, it is a museum that tells about Slovenia recently (19th and 20th century). The museum told me a little bit more about the places I've already been to in Slovenia. Today was Thanks Giving, sadly I couldn't spend it with my family.
Day 4 of 4, Nov. 23rd: Today I woke up to the hotel room next to mine's TV up so loud it was like I had it on loud in my room! That morning I was very cranky. After my breakfast of toast I went to the Predjama castle, a beautiful castle about 11 kilometers away from Postojna, it was built in 1274 inside a cave mouth, it was built for Erazem ( a wealthy lord), and it has been expanded many times. The castle was pretty, but the rock overhang made me think the it was going to crash on top of the castle. After the Predjama castle I took my travels to the center of the capital. I went to the Triple Bridge, I didn't just come to see the bridges. I also came to see the canal, walk around, go to a restaurant, and shop. For lunch I had more potato njoki. After lunch I packed up most of my stuff. Then I just sat in my hotel room watching TV, I was dead tired. I had no idea I could fit so much in only four days.
Souvenirs: In this country I bought a New old town snow globe, a mini Slovenian flag, a T-shirt with Europe on it with Slovenia highlighted, and a Slovenia keychain.
Departure, Nov. 24th: My flight to Austria is at 9 AM. The airport was very sanitary, but super crowded. I ate a pastry for breakfast. My flight is vey short, half an hour to an hour! Goodbye Slovenia, hello Austria!
