Arrival, Nov. 12th: I just arrived in Greece! I arrived here at about 11:25 A.M. on November 12th.It was a 2 and a quarter hours flight. I drove straight to my hotel, The King George Palace. The forecast for the four days Im here is 60°Fahrenheit. After checking in to my hotel and putting my luggage in my room, I went to get my Euros (greek currency). I also have to get my rental car.
Why Greece: I choose to visit Greece because of my 6th grade teacher. He taught me about the myths and the beautiful sights and ideas. Also Greece seems the perfect place to learn about the past and of ancient wars. Lastly Greece is a great place for relaxing.
Packing: For this country I packed two long sleeve shirts, two short sleeve shirts, my pink sweatshirt, two pairs of shorts, two pairs of pants, and my sandals. I also brought my fuzzy black boots, my blue fleece, my warm pajamas, and my pink tennis shoes. I also packed my toiletries consisting of a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush, makeup, shampoo, conditioner, and my lotion.
Day 1 of 4, Nov. 12th: Today I had artichoke pie for lunch. It took me a while to decide which place I wanted to visit. I am going to see the ruins of Delphi, the old home of the Delphi Oracle (the oracle you consulted if you had a problem), also home to a theatre and a stadium, also held the famous bronze statue of the Charioteer, I also saw the museum in the ruins with all the ancient artifacts. That tour took four hours! After that the day was almost over so I went back to my hotel to eat and sleep. I ate caesar salad for dinner ( can't go to Greece without eating caesar salad)!
Day 2 of 4, Nov. 13th: This morning I woke up and took a long hot shower, I didn't feel well. I slept an extra hour and felt better. Today I took a walk and crossed the Rio-Antiro Bridge, it is a really long bridge over a river. Then I went to see the Acropolis, a beautiful temple, also known as the Cecropia, it was built in Athens, and it was a temple built in 1400 BCE. Today I didn't eat lunch because I started to feel sick again. Then I went back to my hotel because I felt super sick. I also didn't eat dinner and I went to bed early.
Day 3 of 4, Nov. 14th: Since I had a stomach ache yesterday, I need to squeeze as much touring in today as possible. I woke up early today. I ate Pita (a pastry stuffed with greek jelly and covered in cinnamon and frosting) for breakfast, and headed straight toward the Greece Santorini, the building are super exquisite, it is white buildings with blue roofs. I also saw the after math of an earthquake, parts of it were submerged (its like a real live Atlantis). Then I went a few temples like the Athena and Nike temple, Athena is the goddess of war strategy and Nike is the goddess of sports and victory, the statues are gold and really big. The temple is large and beautiful. Then I went to temple of Zeus, Zeus is the god of gods ( basically the king) his temple is even bigger than Athena and Nike's. Then I had pasta salad for lunch, it was yummy. After lunch I went on a road trip to Mount Olympus it was really long, but it was worth it because the landscapes were beautiful and so is Mount Olympus, Mount Olympus is the apparent living place of the gods. The last thing I saw was the Parthenon, a super old building built in 480 BCE, and the focus of the Acropolis.
Day 4 of 4, Nov. 15th: Today is my last day here. I want to see the museums before leaving. First I went to the Athens National Archaeological museum (what a long name)! It was wasn't as beautiful as some other sites, but a lot more educational. I spent most of my time looking at the Sparta and Athens exhibits. Lunch break! I had a chicken sandwich. I also went the Sitia museum ( not super fun, but educational). My favorite part of the Sitia museum were the ivory statues. Then I went back to my hotel to pack most of my stuff. I once again had caesar salad for dinner.
Souvenirs: The stuff I bought here consist of, a mini greek flag, a snow globe for my friend Quinn (she collects snow globes), a ruby necklace, and a T-shirt that says "Olympics 776 BCE".
Departure, Nov. 16th: Well that about wrapes up Greece! I am leaving at 3:00 A.M. this morning. Now I am going to Luxembourg! The airport was crowded and smelled like sweat. I bought an egg bagel to board the plane with. I will arrive in Luxembourg in about 3 to 4 hours. Goodbye Greece, hello Luxembourg!!!!!!!
