After touching down in Belgrade I exchanged a few US Dollars for Serbian Dinars. The exchange rate in Serbia was more in my favor, so for every Dollar I spent in Serbia it was actually only $.86 (or around that).
I've had read that the bus system in Belgrade couldn't be beat, and it sounded like a good way to save money on transportation. So, I found the bus station at the corner of Zeleznichka & Nemanjina Streets and started making my plans.
To get ready for my trip I searched things to do on the www.serbia.travel site and decided to go bicycling and white water rafting. First on the list was White Water Rafting, so I had to take a bus to go up the mountain to catch the Tara River down. Because it is so late in the season I had to wear a wetsuit to stay warm, but I was still really cold. Another good thing about wearing a wetsuit is that I didn't get a sunburn while I was on the water.
After the rafting I was really cold and wanted to get my body moving, so I decided to do a tour bike ride around the city. I posted my map in my album. There were tour groups everywhere riding bikes. I was surprised to see so many of them. While on the bike I rode past the Great War Island and the National Museum, but I didn't feel like exploring either one of them.
Instead I decided it was time to have a traditional Serbian meal. I wish could go back in time and make that decision again ... as it turns out open flame roasted pig is big in Belgrade and even grosser than it looks to me.
