I really want to go back and visit Greece during the summer some day, but since I had the chance to visit during the winter I decided to go ahead with it. I ordered a huge breakfast to make sure I had enough energy to do everything I wanted to without getting hungry before I was ready to stop. I event took a picture of it when it came to the table, but I didn't take a picture of the mess that was left after I finished eating.
When I think about Greece I think about Athens and the Olympics, so I wanted to see if all the books I have read and the movies I have watched were right. I took a tour with a lot of other tourists to see all of the important Olympian sites. I thought all of these sites had beautiful architecture and were more amazing in person than in movies and books. It is the one place that I visited that really stood out for its history.
I took one of the new coastal trams to the coast since Evia is near Athens and the islands are nice even during the winter. I decided to take a ferry trip over to check out more of the island. It is a huge island with many towns and a lot of things to do. I decided to rent a bike and take another bike tour. It was $20 USD for 4 hours. Greece uses the European Euro, so it should have felt like I was paying extra for everything, but I found that most things in Greece were affordable.
On my bike tour I rode off-road on some gravel paths and also road along the shore on some paved paths. Even thought it is a large island I wasn't concerned about getting lost because the paths were clearly marked with English signs.
