Been a few days since I've jumped since to fill y'all in on the roadtrip status, we have been making our way slowly aross middle America, through true cowboy and cattle country, we stayed at Yellowstone National Park yesterday, at the foot of the Grand Teton mountain range.
Smack bang in the middle of bear country, apparently a lady got eaten here last week, unlucky for her I guess!
Not the safest area to camp in but you need to live n learn. The camp ranger gave up this beat spray, a pepper spray type thing for bears, but it only works when they are fifteen feet or closer!! AWESOME!!
The mountain range was still fairly well covered in snow on the peaks even though it's summer and been around 34 degrees on average, but the peaks are 6000 feet above sea level. Probably 2 KMs higher than the Victorian ski fields!!
Went out for a beer at the local saloon, cowboy hats, boots, belt buckles, check shirts and some wicked country dancing!! Tee bags had some issues coping with the occasion and ended up in the local park spreading carrot on the lawn!!!
Back into tent for a great restful evening of deep sleep..... Until we hear sone grunting noise outside out tent......?? s***!!!! Where was the bear spray? Too scared to turn the torch on for fear of attracting attention, lay still and wide awake till dawn! So either a moose or stinking bear was sanding around put tent last night, and can't say I got any sleep after the heart stopped beating!!!!
We got outta there, and hit the road through the otherside of the Rocky mountains and down into Idaho to camp for the night in a safe hotel!!!! One more day until we reach Oregon, 27 states, and two countries in five weeks....! Not a bad effort at all!!!
