The long flight from Paris finally touched down in Singapore and we found our way to
the Allson Hotel, 101 Victoria Street, as part of a three night stopover deal. Included in the deal were discount vouchers for most of Singapore's attractions. We took advantage of this to visit the night safari at the zoo (discounted from $40 to $24) and also a bum boat ride down the Singapore River, once the source of flourishing trade that fueled the rapid growth of the once British colony.
The Night Safari was quite good but all seemed a bit contrived, particularly when we had been to the real Africa. There was no question in our mind that many of the animals had to be coaxed out, to just happen to be in view, as the special zoo train passed by.
The rest of our stay in Singapore was spent discovering interesting little places to eat, checking out the shops and of course having a massage. Then all too soon we were back on the plane to Oz and another wonderful trip was over.
