Today we took the train out to Arcachon 1 hour from Bordeaux. It was a really interesting town with amazing houses. The beaches were nice with great sand. The cycle trails were amazing, two lanes in each direction clearly marked it was like being on your own bike road, so safe magnific! We rode our bikes from our hosts place on the canal du robine to the train station, making sure we were early as we were not quite sure how or where the bikes needed to go on the train. Its all so simple, they book your seats in the same carriage as you put the bikes in, there were only 4 places for bikes to be hung up and not easy to get them into place, we had a french guy help us as he seemed to have the knack! We had a great day today sorting out our things and packing our paniers for our great adventure. There is something very freeing about not having much other than biking gear, a few changes of clothes, toilet bag and of course a girl has to take her hair dryer!!!!! Can't believe it myself that I am taking my hair dryer but yep I am. I cant be a grot after cycling all day I have to have a shower, clean clothes and a fluffy pillow - so I am not that hard out...

WOW WOW WOW - these two bridges were built 2000 years apart and they are both AMAZING.The Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct bridge that crosses the Gardon River. Our time with Eric & Carol has been an amazing experience with a French family, there has been cheese and cheese and more cheese, so much laughter, wine and my french has really improved. Eric has been saying I have a great french accent - mmm not sure about that but it does give me encouragement. Its funny how we teach each other, I speak in French/English to he and he speaks English/French to me and we all learn, by the end of the 12 days we have all improved...
