We hit the road and left Limousin behind, 2 hours away are our great friends Sandy & Roger who live in Amberac in The Charente Region. We met these guys back in 2012 when we volunteered through the helpx scheme. We lived with them for a month and the bond that was formed is what you would call "a rest of your life friendship." They live in a fabulous home and always tell us we have come home when we visit, its very special.
So, as usual the humour is bouncing around and soon I have sore cheeks from laughing after just a few hours. Roger gives Rod some great tips on his new relaxation Sudoku - or time out as I call it.
Sandy is involved in a dog rescue centre and re-homing these unfortunate creatures that seem to be tossed out on the street when their owners die or people just decide they don't want a dog anymore. They have 4 Yorkies, each with very individual characters, Baby Dog is their own, then came Corkie Boy, and new to us is IPOD, & Gizzy all booked in for the rest of their life into what I call Club Med heaven for dogs. I fell in love with IPOD - I said I have room in one of my panniers so he could come on our biking adventure too, Pascal got extremely jealous!!
So we ate, we laughed, cuddled the Yorkies and made plans to house sit for them later in May so they can go off and have a mini break together. The Charente where they live is a beautiful region, the Charente river flows at the bottom of their garden and snakes can be spotted swimming around YUK!! The Charente felt much warmer than Limousin the leaves were all fully out on the trees and the roses too.
We spent a couple of nights with them and Rod enjoyed himself inspecting all the work Roger had done to their home since our last visit in 2014. One of Rogers new additions is a motorhome so they spent a quite a bit of time in it looking and discussing - who knows what?? Ha Ha.
Our time together was over far too quickly and we hit the road again, off to Normandy to spend Easter with our French friends we met in Fiji.
How lucky are we.
