This week has been rather eventful so I will apologise for the blog length in advance!
We shall start with Thursday. A funny place to start you may think, however, after being bitten at work by some unidentified insect/arachnid/unknown a day previously, a trip to the pharmacy was necessary. The polite pharmatician kindly told me that I was untreatable with all their lotions and potions and promptly needed to visit a doctors. Luckily the doctors was only over the road from my cousins so I didn't have far to hobble and hobble I did.
The doc reckoned it was a mosquito bite that had got infected and developed into a condition called cellulitus, however after much speculation at work I was unsure if it was a mozzy or a spider that had taken a fancy to gnawing at my ankle!
I would have to say it was rather worrying as it was quite painful an was causing me to walk like someone with one of those double decker shoes. Plus it had swollen to an impressive size. So... antibiotics it was.
Come the next day my hobble had turned into more of a hop, the bite had spread a little, thus worried I may lose a leg, I returned to the doctors.
Second consultation and $100 lighter doc concluded it was not a mozzy bite but a spider bite and having received antibiotics so early on it was less likely to spread and my leg should remain intact!
We worked out that the probable culprit was a redback, which could have been under the table i was working at as it had been brought in from outside. In actual fact the little blighter had bitten me twice, causing the localised skin infection and a fair amount of pain. (Evidence which i shall attach in photographic form!) For me... twice bitten once shy it certainly is!
Now every single place I go I'm scouting for blasted arachnids!
Friday afternoon after the docs visit, me and Gary headed for Vincentia where Marks mum and dad live. The train journey was definitely worth more money than we paid as it was more like a stand up comedy show. Cue elderly, balding, pasty white man, snoring, head akimbo into the aisle, slightly dribbling and feeling his right moob through the neck of his shirt. I noticed, however, all those that were oblivious round the carriage had two electrical wires suspended from their ear holes, much resembling either an avatar or something off of Wall-E.
A greek looking man attempting to find a seat, almost ended up face down in the snoring man's lap, when the train reached a sharp bend in the track. And a kind gentleman who swapped seats so me and Gary could sit together, stood up rather promptly and banged his head on the window frame. It was hard not to chuckle at this point.
The weekend was Amazing in Vincentia and at Jervis Bay. The beaches are truly beautiful and it's hard to argue your not in paradise. I've left Gary behind as he doesn't have work so can just kick back and relax. Something which I am well in need of. Good job there's only 7 working days left, when I can return to Vincentia and truly holiday.
<3 peace, love and laughs to all
