We arrived in Tapalque ridiculously early in the morning, and because it is such a small town, the bus terminal was completely deserted! Fortunately there was one guy there who spoke a tiny bit of English. He called Tapalque police who arrived in a 4x4 to take us to a nearby petrol station which had a few huts next door with double ensuite rooms inside!! We crashed in one of them to catch up on some sleep and woke up to a phone call from David, the owner of La Margarita Estancia saying he wasn´t going to be on the estancia when we arrived but the grounds keeper, his wife and son would look after us!!!
So off we went in a taxi to the estancia, which was about a half hour drive from Tapalque through fields and fields of horses and cows!! When we arrived, we were shown to our little room which had an ensuite, big bed, wood stove, sink and gas cooker, then because the weather was so nice, we made some lunch and sat outside in the sunshine. That afternoon we went horseriding, which was great fun! Lee looked a little nervous to start with but by the end was cantering off ahead doing his gaucho impressions!!
Over the next few days we lounged about in the sun, went on walks around the estancia, went horseriding twice a day and even milked a cow!! The estancia was set in beautiful surroundings and there was no-one else there other than us, so it was nice to have a relaxing few days of doing nothing! We eventually left on Tuesday 15th September to head to our next stop, Mar del Plata.
