I said goodbye to everyone in Marrakech and headed to my hostel. That afternoon I did the rest of my shopping (mainly gifts for people) and later met a large group of girls in the hostel who had just booked a daytrip to the Cascades d'Ouzoud for the next day, famous waterfalls a few hours out of Marrakech which had been on my list of places to go originally. I thought it over, and weighed a day meandering about Marrakech with a day spent lazing around and swimming in a rock pool underneath a waterfall. Can you guess which won? So I booked the tour and went with them on Tuesday 26th. The drive took a little longer than expected, and when we got there at 11am, we were dismayed to hear that the driver would be picking us up at 3pm (we'd been told 5pm) leaving us with rather less than a day at the waterfalls. We bargained the driver down to 4.30pm and then headed to the falls. It took about an hour to climb from the top to the bottom, of course we were stopping for photos every few steps. The waterfall was pretty fantastic, but just as amazing, and the real highlight for me was its setting. In a dry valley with startling cliffs and dramatic views. There were also Barabary Apes here, although these were a little less difficult to find - they came right up to us and were eating from people's hands and posing for photos (I swear they were!). The water was unfortunately far too cold to actually swim in, even as hot as we were after our long climb, but I slowly sat down in it and it was deliciously refreshing. One problem we had was ignoring the rude and ignorant guys who just sat and stared at us in our bikinis, even though we had singlet tops on. At the appointed time we reluctantly headed back to our minibus and Marrakech. We went out to dinner that night, as most of us were leaving in the next day or so (I had less than 2 days left) and wanted to have some drinks but had no idea how to go about getting any. So we settled for coke and walked around Djemaa el'Fna for the final time.
