Day 31. Early start to another cool day, in order to get to Normanton to catch the Gulflander, the train that runs from nowhere to nowhere and has done for 120 years! It was built to connect the port of Normanton to the gold fields of Croydon. The sleepers are steel and have remained train worthy for 120 years! Day 30. Our day is now planned around an 11am kickoff for the fishing charter. The day is cool for here and a bit windy. Grey skies. All good as we are leaving Elle in the van. We manage a normal breakfast and Elle gets two walks. We clamber aboard the Kathryn M with a couple of men from our van park and skipper Robert. Robert runs charters here and at Port Lincoln. Day 29. Lovely cool night and cool but windy start to the day. Washed the sheets and other stuff. Then we went over to the Karumba markets. They were better than I thought. A lot of fisher person partners do craft, to while away their days up here. They all come from down south and we met friends of friends from Wagga. Day 28. Halfway through our trip. We had a look around Normanton which has some lovely buildings, particularly the lovely railway station. The Gulflander train still runs between Normanton and Croydon and you can take a short two hour scenic trip as well. Then we headed for Karumba and were ensconced at our van site by midday.
