Went to the Portuguese Museum of Language yesterday, which was fascinating. The visual and auditory displays are very well designed that I didn’t need to fully understand the language in order to understand the language’s origins and the effects on the language. The museum really highlighted much of the culture, especially carnival and samba  I got a few photo’s which I’ve added to the Luz folder, but as the museum is very dark inside there isn’t much to see on them, something that just has to be visited. Like the Parque de Luz, so peaceful, had a really nice walk around the park looking at the sculptures, with a nice coffee in the Pinnacoteca café which is right next door 

Visited the Japanese market in Liberdade on Sunday which was good fun, managed to walk there pretty easily – knew when I was in the right place when I reached mini Japan, lol. The market is only on a Sunday and it was absolutely jam packed full of people all after the local food and bargains to be had. As I’m going to Japan I didn’t buy anything Japanese although the lanterns were very nice and the origami birds  Cathedral Sè is very close, the architecture and sheer scale are amazing – manages to beat Lincoln Cathedral I think in awe factor.

The MAM (Museu de Arte Moderna) at Parque do Ibirapuera had a remarkable exhibition by Jorge Gunile “Beautiful Chaos” – very much how he painted, modernist but with a twist – striking use of colour and texture together in the paintings which to each person I imagine reflects and presents different and new ideas/ images through the paint. The exhibition was bilingual so I was able to understand more about the artist and his Parisian, American and Brazilian background which is shown in his paintings.

Heading to the Zoo at the weekend and perhaps Serra to enjoy the glorious sunshine at the moment – maybe increase the off-white tan I’ve managed to obtain, although I don’t think there is hope for my legs, although I brought some shorts today (bargain price of R$40 – £12) so in order to prevent hilarity I rather need my little white legs to go off white (I thinking there’s little chance though!!) 
