Traveling Mandy
Hi there
We just loaded up about 600 photos, so go check them out.
Photos from helihiking and our trip to the icefields.
we've had the most incredible time! And we've been really lucky with the weather, it's only turned bad today, but we seemed to get the brilliant weather for most of the week which had the important activities that were 'weather dependant' like the Lake louise trip, the gondala and the hele hiking.
I think Mandy would agree with me when we say that the Hele hiking was one of the most incredible experiences! It was absolutely breathtaking!
Yesterday we took a scenic bus trip up to the Columbian Ice Fields. We had a number of stops along the way, including Lake Louise again. We were so lucky as we got to see Lake Louise in a totally different light. The first time we went it was a sunny day but windy on the lake; yesterday it was overcast but totally calm and no wind, which created this beautiful mirror reflection on the lake of the mountians and sky, it was just so wonderful.
On the way we also so a grizzily bear, just walking across the road!!! literally! it was amazing! we got some awesome shots of him.
We then went to Lake Peyto, then to Crow foot Mountain then onto the ice fields, check out the pictures, because I can't find enough words in the dictionary to describe just how beautiful the day was.
We've had such a great time, The Canadian Rockies are just beautiful and we totally recommend the trip to anyone.
We're off to go white water rafting tomorrow, then we leave for Montreal on Sunday.
I would like to make a quick note of some of the things that I've observed in Canada:
1. All Canadian men sound like Kermit the frog
2. I love the pedestrian lights and the way they count down how much time you have left to cross the road, I shall be petitioning for this back in Sydney.
3. Canadian's three favourite things to say are: abooot (about) sweeeeet and end sentences with eh?
4. every second person in Banff is Australian
5. Canadian idol is NOT as good as Australian idol
6. Korean and Japanese tourists are ANNOYING!!! and ignore warning signs that they are about to fall into a cravas at any second (wishfull thinking)
7.McDonalds is not as good as Maccas at home and they don't have everything we have. They also, for some strange reason, have never heard of Fanta???
8. Subway sandwiches are crap
9. a looney is NOT a crazy person like one would think, but a $1 coin, and a twoey (is not short for toohey's new, but a $2 coin)
10. Canadian toilets are like swimming pools, as the toilet bowl is half full why????
Must go, as my wife is delieriously tired and has gone back to the hotel to do some washing.
till next time.
Love Amand and Mandy
