Traveling Mandy
bonjour from mandy!
greetings from montreal. we arrived in montreal two days ago and are loving it. we are staying at a B&B in the village which is the gay area of montreal. pooftas everywhere.
so far we have used a couple of mercis and a bonjour but most people speak english and the tourist resturants have english menus. The food here is MUCH better than banff and san fran - we have had a couple of great meals - much more european in style and the coffee is decent. Yay.
yesterday we went for a walk around old montreal and got a carriage ride with a man named max and a horse named charlie. max delighted in telling us the age of each building and i didn't have the heart to let him know that i didn't give a s***.
we then went to the Notre-dame church which was just beautiful. Amanda took about 600 photos- so check out the pictures.
today we walked up mount royal which nearly gave us both a heart attack. the view was great but the weather was a bit grey so the photos dont really do the city justice.
this afternoon we are going to go to the museum of contempoary art and then figure out how we get to Qubec city on Thursday.
it's a little odd to be in a bi-lingual city and it certainly makes me want to learn another language. Kelly in San fran taught us the sign language word for toilet (very useful when trying to communicate in nightclubs) - but i'm not sure that counts.
we're loving your comments so keep them coming on the message board!
comment fromAmanda:
Alex, I'm so proud of you! I shall buy you a beer when I get home!
And kylie (slappy flappy slaps) thanks for the contact! looking forward to meeting your friend!
Mum Millar: keep that finger poised cause I've taken six hundred more photos hehehehehehehe :o)
love to you all.
