Today I spent the morning at L'Oceanografic (the largest aquarium in Europe) and the afternoon at Museo de las Ciencias Principe Felipe. My whole reason in coming to Valencia as this morning. There were 8 different habitats featured at L'Oceanografic and as you enter you head down to the main floor and out a walk way where there is a wall of water to the building housing the Mediterranean habitat first. You'll just have to look at the pictures to get a glimpse of all the amazing fishes I saw. The coolest fish I think was the while beluga whales. That was what caught my attention to heading to Valencia, the while beluga whales. They were so graceful and powerful just swimming around. The only bad part was that most of the Arctic building was in construction. So you go in there just to see the beluga whales. There were two more other building that were under construction. The dolphin show was pretty good. I've uploaded videos of the show for y'all to see. One of things I really liked at L'Oceanografic was walking under water. They had these long glass tunnels where fishes swim around you and above you. It will probably be the only time I'm able to "walk" under water! Seeing the manta rays gracefully float around you, looking at a nurse shark eye to eye, making funny faces at eels and seeing the school of fishes darting around....memorable & priceless!
The afternoon I spent at the Museum of Science. It was so cool! Lots of interactive things to do. They encourage you to touch things and interact with the exhibits. One of the best exhibit that I enjoyed was the tornado exhibit. You place your hand in and watch how it changes the tornado. There were several elderly tour groups and you see these gray haired men and women interacting with the exhibits. Brought the kid out in them! I think adults need to spend sometime at least once a month if not more "playing" and not just working or worrying so much. Play still needs to be part of our lives so we don't forget our childish enthusiams for life
And that ladies and gentlmen is Jica's thought of the day for you. OH side note: for lunch I had croquets, yeah I know they're not healthy for you, but it was the only thing on the menu I could recognize!
This evening was the IMAX show called "Dinosaurs Alive". If you've never been to an IMAX show, I don't recommend it if you get montion sickness. I don't normally get motion sickness, dude I would read a full book in a car while it is moving, but after a few minutes in the show I felt really queasy. The show was good and fascinating lots of mention how fossils are formed by a quick sumbersion of a large amount of body of water, they mentioned floods a lot. But it was more along the lines of large flash flood in the territory. Hmmm ever consider accepting the world wide flood theory presented to us in the BIBLE it will really make the fossilization process so much clearer! Oh well, due to my uneasy stomach dinner was going to be simple.
I have discovered that I really like going to the supermarket here! For example my dinner tonight was less than 10 Euros. I still had an appetizer, main course and dessert. The appetizer was a cheese plate, followed by an entree of crab sandwiches and Jamon flavored potato chips and dessert (it was such a find! ) a mini tiramisu for one. All this courtesy of El Corte Ingles' supermarket. My drink was water of course! Still have to be good somewhat while on vacation.
I'm digressing again but I forgot to mention my wonderful surprise at breakfast. Normally when a hotel offers you breakfast you think lousy coffee and some bread or cereal right? Well here at Tryp Oceanic Hotel you would be wrong! They had a "hot" breakfast tray which had two different omlette, three different types of eggs, bacon, churros and broiled tomatos. Then there was the fruit and jam table which had kiwi, papaya, pinapple and other fruits along with a wide variety of jams. And that's not all folks! There was the meat and cheese area which had four different tyhpes of meats, various cheeses and yogurts. Yeah I'm looking forward to breakfast tomorrow!
