We got up early again to eat breakfast and our taxi arrived at the house at 8am. We were at the airport by 8:30am and couldn't check in for another hour. So Aunti Elvie waited with us, supposedly we could check in by 9:45 but it wasn't until 10am that the sign changed and allowed us to check in. They said the boarding would start at 11:05 but we didn't board until 11:30am. I was beginning to see a pattern of how Khmer time is not exactly American time! The flight was supposed to leave at 11:35 but we didn't lift off from the ground until noon. Thankfully the flight was uneventful but I spent most of it resting and sleeping.
The nice thing about Immigration in Hong Kong is that though the line was long it went by rather quick! Quicker than France, Philippines or Thailand which was nice since Bing-bing and I were so exhausted. We met up with Jennifer right as we got out of customs and then Mizpah was waiting for us out of the gate. I thought you could just go to a booth and have them drop you off at your hotel but you have to make a reservation and since I didn't get a reply on my e-mail we were lost on how to get to town. Fortunately a helpful taxi driver offered to take us for 100$HKD per person (which is about $30-$40 US dollars). The ride to our hotel was about 1 hour which wasn't bad and we got to see most of the city. Drove over the longest suspension bridge in the world and saw where Disneyland Hong Kong is located along with the sitting Buddha.
Our hotel is the Intercontinental Grand Standford located on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong. We have a very nice room with an awesome harbor view. As soon as we checked in we rested for 3 hours and then just decided to have dinner served in the room. It was nice to just relax at last. The past two weeks we've been running around like a chicken with our head cut off! Everyday we wake up by 6am and don't go to bed until 9pm or later. So much to see and we were sort of obligated to meet certain people since they know my parents. For this leg of the trip I intend to just relax and take it easy.
