December 1st
Urrmmmm……spent the day chilling by the pool again - not that exciting but Lynne and Elaine (+ Lynne's sister) finally manage to get over.
December 2nd (Full Moon!!!)
We spent a few hours in the morning by the pool.....notice the trend?! In the afternoon we headed into town for a walk on the beach and to get supplies for the evening's festivities. The weather had clouded over a bit by the time we hit the beach, and the wind had picked up somewhat which had made for some good waves, so I went for a quick dip in the sea.The waves were actually pretty massive, which was cool.
We went back to the hotel to get ready for the night. We had some food in the hotel restaurant, and then all went back to our rooms and opened up the balcony between our rooms.A few drinking games were played and before we knew it, a bottle of vodka had been finished (between 4 of us!).
At 9:30, a van came to pick us up to take us to the boat dock, where we all had to put our details down, presumably incase the boat sinks (like one did a few years ago!).There were loads of people already there waiting for the boats, so we had plenty of time to get a few more drinks in.Around 11 o'clock it was our turn to board the boat and head over to Koh Phangnan. The boat is actually pretty cool.We all get life jackets, and although we were going very fast, it wasn't too bumpy at all.
As soon as we arrive, we all throw off our life jackets and walk towards the entrance. We had to pay 100baht to enter, but got cool wristbands, so it's not too bad.We started to wander the streets heading towards the beach. All the streets are lined with food and drink stalls, selling buckets of alcohol......literally buckets with bottles of vodka and mixers in for cheap prices. There were also loads of stalls selling pots of fluorescent paint, so we also get a few of them in, and end up covering each other with it.A good 20 mins is spent drawing on each other and after a cheeky bucket we headed off in search of the beach again. They do 'buckets' out here in style; ours contained a 1 litre bottle of vodka, 1 litre bottle of 7up and 8 little bottles of industrial strength red bull.Apparently the red bull back home has about 2 mg of taurine in, but the red bull out here has 15mg!Needless to say it was pretty strong stuff, and the bucket went down very well!
As we were nearing the beach the streets got more and more busy. All the bars were rammed, as were the tattoo parlors. We eventually made it to the beach, and it was an incredible sight.15,000 - 20,000 people were all raving it up on the beach and frolicking in the sea.We wandered down the beach a bit to see what was going on, and ended up parking ourselves outside one of the bars and got down to some serious partying.
Pretty much spent the whole night dancing on any spare patch of sand we could find, wandering around the side streets and eating some dodgy late night snacks! Unfortunately, Paul felt a little bit sickie toward the end of it all so had to take a time out while some of us went back to the beach. However, we finally gave up at about 4.30am in the morning and headed back to get the speedboat home.
The Thai's apparently don't know what a queue is and so it took us a good hour to push our way in and out of the ramble of people to get back on the speed boat! They journey home did was better than I thought, bit of fresh sea air seemed to perk us all up. Still we finally crash about 6am - Good times.
3rd December
Hmmm - today was spent mainly sleeping, eating, a bit of swimming and more sleeping (even more sleeping for Paul!). Constructive day all round really.
